Humane Handling
Did you know goats are a great alternative vegetation management solution? Targeted grazing leverages the natural behavior of sheep and goats in managing invasive weeds as well as wildfire mitigation.

The Goal:
Uplifting & Low Stress
Funding provided: $10,000
Targeted grazing means your facilities go where you go and that can make it extra hard when you are managing over 2,000 sheep and goats across Northern California. Routine vaccinations and sorting can become stressful from handling and extended waiting in the hot summer sun.
This system mimics the method designed by Temple Grandin creating system that keeps the animals secure and calm while making it easier and safer on the caregivers. This system, originally designed in Australia, allows groups of animals to enter together at the ground level and then get lifted, safely suspended to prevent jumping and moving, raising them to a level easy for caregivers manage.
The Outcomes:
Elevated care and handling
The system has been a proven game changer for the sheep, goats and caregivers.

What Farmers Are Saying
“We processed goats in half the time it usually takes. The goats seemed much happier and so were we!”
- Dr. Smith, Herd Veterinarian

A handling system designed around the animal allows everyone to enjoy stress free handling that is safer, quicker and easier on everyone.
